Who we are

This website, fayepalmqvist.com, is run by Sweet Elements Chester Limited, trading as Faye Palmqvist. The company is the controller of the personal data described here. It is registered in England and Wales under company number 11823977. Registered office: Maple House, Park West, Sealand Road, Chester, CH1 4RN. You can reach us at hello@fayepalmqvist.com or by post to the registered office. We are not required to appoint a data protection officer and have not done so.

What we collect, why, and on what basis

  • When you use the contact form: your name, email address and message, so we can read your message and reply. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Article 6(1)(f)), or, where you are asking about commissioning work, steps you have asked us to take before a contract (Article 6(1)(b)).

  • When you sign up for letters: your email address, with the date, time and form you used, so we can send you letters from Faye’s kitchen: new Journal pieces, recipes and founder notes. Lawful basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a)).

  • When you read a letter: whether you open it or click a link in it, so we can see which letters are useful. Lawful basis: your consent, given when you sign up.

  • When you use the site: device, browser and approximate location information, and how the site is used, to keep the site secure and working and to understand how it is used so we can improve it. Lawful basis: for security, our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)); for analytics, your consent, given through the cookie banner (Article 6(1)(a)).

  • When someone else passes us your details: for example a colleague who introduces you about a project, so we can get in touch about that project. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)). We will tell you where we got your details when we first contact you.

You need to give an email address for us to reply to you or send you letters. Sending a message does not add you to the letters list.

Buying from the shop

If you buy a digital product, we use your name, email address and order details to deliver it and keep our accounts. Payment is handled by Stripe, through Squarespace Commerce; we never see your full card details. Lawful basis: performing our contract with you (Article 6(1)(b)), and our legal obligation to keep accounting records (Article 6(1)(c)). Order records are kept for six years for tax purposes.

Who sees your data

We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf: Squarespace (website hosting and the contact form), Kit (sending letters), Stripe (shop payments), Google Workspace (our inbox at hello@fayepalmqvist.com) and Google Analytics (how the site is used, only if you accept analytics cookies). We may share data with professional advisers such as our accountant or lawyer where needed, or where the law requires it. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.

Our forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which checks that a person, not a program, is sending them. Google’s own privacy policy and terms apply to that check.

Transfers outside the UK

Squarespace, Kit, Stripe and Google process data in the United States. Where they do, the transfer is protected by the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, where the provider is certified under it, or otherwise by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses included in the provider’s data processing terms. You can ask us for a copy of the relevant safeguards.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not lead to work: 12 months after our last exchange, then deleted.

  • Enquiries that lead to work: with our client records, for six years after the work ends, for tax and accounting purposes.

  • Letters subscription: until you unsubscribe. We review inactive subscribers every 12 months.

  • Record of your consent: two years after you unsubscribe, so we can show your consent was valid.

  • Unsubscribe record: your email address only, for as long as needed to make sure we never email you again.

  • Analytics data: Google Analytics keeps event data for 2 months and user data for 14 months, after which it is deleted. Aggregated reports, which identify no one, are kept.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to receive it in a portable form. Some of these rights depend on the circumstances. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time; this does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it. To use any of these rights, email hello@fayepalmqvist.com. It is free, and we will reply within one month.

Automated decisions

We do not make decisions about you by automated means, and we do not profile you.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, email hello@fayepalmqvist.com with the subject line “Data complaint”, or write to the registered office. Faye handles every complaint herself. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days, look into it, keep you updated, and tell you the outcome without undue delay. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at any time, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

Cookies

The site uses cookies that are needed for it to work, and Google Analytics cookies, which are only set if you accept them. You choose when you first visit, and you can change your mind at any time through Cookie Preferences at the foot of every page. Links to Instagram, TikTok and Facebook are ordinary links; nothing from those platforms loads on our pages.

Affiliate links

Some links on this site and in our letters are affiliate links, and they are labelled as such. If you buy through one, the retailer pays us a small commission at no extra cost to you. We only link to what we use ourselves. The retailer may set its own cookies when you click through; its privacy policy applies, and it does not share your personal details with us. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use data you have already given us, we will tell you before it takes effect.
